Torchwood meets Goldie Lookin Chain…

It’s a platonic date night for Tosh and Ianto in the latest monthly Torchwood adventure, written by Gareth David-Lloyd. And, of course, Cardiff’s Millennium Centre is full of aliens.

Naoko Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd return to the Torchwood roles they played on television from 2006, in a full-cast audio drama released today.

Torchwood: Dinner and a Show also guest-stars Rhys ap William and actor John Rutledge (better known to hip-hop fans as Eggsy from Welsh rappers, Goldie Lookin Chain).

It’s high culture meets ravenous, mass murdering lowlife as Tosh and Ianto must take on the alien Groche without back up, a plan, or even an ice cream in the interval.

It’s February 14th and Owen is a no-show for Toshiko’s not-Valentine’s-Valentine’s Night at the opera.

Worse, when Ianto turns up he has bad news for Toshiko, for Cardiff and for fans of classical music – the opera is full of aliens. The doors are bolted, there’s no way out, and this could be the final curtain…

Writer and actor, Gareth David-Lloyd said: “There wasn\’t much interaction between Ianto and Tosh in the series, so I wanted to fix that. We were probably the quieter ones, more private, so I thought it would be nice for them to have a little buddy story.

“I always felt Tosh went through quite a lot of physical and mental abuse in these audios, and indeed the TV show. So I wanted to do one that was a bit more fun for Tosh, a bit lighter.”

Actor Naoko Mori added: “I loved the story. I read it in one go. I think Gareth is so talented and so funny. Ianto usually has the best one-liners and he captures that so well in this script.”

Torchwood: Dinner and a Show is now available to own as a collector’s edition CD at £10.99 or on download from the Big Finish website at £8.99.

Subscribers to the Big Finish Torchwood range can save money by pre-ordering a bundle of forthcoming stories. A six-release bundle is £60 on CD or £50 on download, or you can save even more money by ordering all twelve Torchwood releases together at £110 on CD or £94 on download.

Please note that Torchwood contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listeners.

Please note that Big Finish has now re-opened its warehouse and commenced the shipping of back-orders. The mailout of collector’s edition CDs will still be delayed, but all purchases of CD titles unlock a digital copy that can be downloaded or played on the Big Finish app immediately from the release date
