Perhaps long overdue, this compilation brings together 35 recordings that have been chewed up and spat out by Fat Wreck\’s Australian flagship outfit Frenzal Rhomb over the years. Incredibly, they have released 8 albums and countless singles, but somehow they have passed me by. This might be down to the fact that the lads were at their prime when there was a saturation of Fat Epitaph Fearless Hopeless bands treading the boards which made it difficult to stand out from the rest. Add distance into the mix and the odds might have been tougher for the Rhombos than many of their peers. Therefore this collection serves as the perfect introduction to their world. The words \”Australia\” and \”Fat Wreck\” are in fact the perfect, lazy description for the Frenzies, but it absolutely makes sense. Just like their fellow countrymen The Hard Ons, they specialise in lewd, crude artwork and lyrics, put to banging little catchy tunes. Their sound is very much in tune with the \”Fat Wreck\” sound, and although bands like Snuff, 88 Fingers Louie, Hi-Standard and of course NOFX have their own style, they do have plenty in common, and the \’Zallies fit right in there. Also similar to their bosses at NOFX/ Fat, Frenzal Rhomb have turned their hand to politics and rallied for/ against causes close to their heart, and certainly not minced their words. You can hear the evolution of their sound as the collection progresses, but if there is any polish apparent, don\’t let that fool you into thinking the band\’s sound has matured. From start to finish this is short, fast, snotty, immature and catchy as hell. Tom Chapman
