Pizzatramp – The Last Supper (TNS)

If the press info is to be believed, then this will be the final album released by the trio of hard-headed punk metal bastards Pizzatramp, and that will be a crying shame. The album cover and song titles such as Zombies Have Feelings Too suggest that Pizzatramp are real pranksters, but the music and lyrics on here are no joke. Here you have just over half an hour of tooth-chipping thrash.

The guitars have just the right amount of crunch, bridging the hardcore and thrash genres nicely. Add some kicking beats and a rumbling low-end and Pizzatramp have created a killer sound on here. The vocals are easy to decipher – think DRI, Suicidal, Exodus but with a distinct Welsh flavour. It’s thrash Jim, but not as we know it. The songs steamroller over you, generally lasting between two and three minutes, so there’s no time for frivolities or extended soloing, they get straight to business every time.

As I mentioned, the lyrics are worth paying attention to, as there are lots food for thought. Flagshaggers United features the same vitriol that you might have heard from Dead Sheeran.  It’s a debauched last supper, you’re all invited to eat, drink, get messy and thrash it up. Tom Chapman
