Devil’s Bridge Rum Dark Cherry Liqueur

Cherries have seemingly always been symbolic of decadence and sin. Whether that’s due in no small part to their biblical connection to fertility and abundance, George Washington’s supposed confession, their sweet moreish taste, or a combination of all three, is open to debate and every cherryholic would have a different opinion about why the otherwise innocuous fruit is so deeply rooted in both historical, and modern culture.

But one thing’s for sure, when they’re a base ingredient of any spirit or beer, brandy and imperial stout in particular, they quite literally, in my mind at least, become the food of the Gods.

And it would seem that it’s an opinion that Devil’s Bridge Rum, who are slowly but surely becoming famous for their hand crafted spirit, share as the latest devilishly delicious brew to leave their distillery is their Dark Cherry Liqueur, and by all that’s unholy, delightful and sinful, it’s a palate teasing beauty that you’ll complete and totally surrender your will to after the first drop touches your tongue.

Rich, deep, and steeped in natural sweetness, each sip hits you with a combination knockout of cherry and vanilla, and a subtle, sly warmth that, like your first kiss, makes your heart beat a little faster and your pulse pound a tad harder. Whatever black magic they’ve used to fashion and distill this fascinating, and endlessly complex liqueur is almost certainly far beyond the ken of mere mortals, but be grateful that they did, and if you are lucky enough to secure a bottle, savour and share it, because just like the fruit that lies at its heart, Devil’s Bridge Rum’s Dark Cherry Liqueur is a secret pleasure that the Gods themselves would cherish… Tim Cundle
