Tony Palmer’s 1973 film about HUGH HEFNER The Founder and Editor of Playboy DVD (Gonzo Multimedia)
This fifty-two minute documentary will either ruin your politically correct life, or open up an interesting insight to a man plenty of people may not know too many truths about. Noticeable, and instantaneously, is the ‘grainy’ 70’s appeal and rough edge that comes to air here, as with most other viewings of that time period. The impact of the film has not been doctored to become aligned with the millennium and age of the Blu-ray, instead keeping the original approach – a nice retro feel of authenticity in fact. The main man himself seems very happy to open up his life and show people around his personal entities always returning regularly with the caption “I am very grateful for my life”. Directly open, and responsive, the ‘Heff’ comes across with some severely intellectual communication throughout the entirety of the program. Deep in detail, and open regarding facts it’s a good way to educate yourself on the findings of what, how, where, when, etc… especially if you have ever become fascinated with the educational readings of gentlemen’s literature.
