Fans of Converge will lap up these 8 tracks of hardcore infused metal. Snappy drums propel down-tuned grinding riffage and granite gargling vocals, with some meaty breakdowns reminiscent of label mates Black Breath particularly on the demonic ‘Gates’. The band don’t shy away from the odd Nails style blast beat either, although unlike the grindcore three-piece, Like Rats prefer longer structured songs using the speedy breaks like adrenalin shots that serve to emphasize the heavier musical passages. The overall effect is one of grim negativity that reminds you of your own mortality  Ian Pickens
