Here’s a welcome return from Salttown punk rockers Kicked In The Teeth. KITT are one of those rare bands that defy genres and so they are sit comfortably on a bill with Pizza Tramp one week, and Cockney Rejects the next, without ever sounding out of place.
We raved over their last EP Death Adventure and this record really builds on that. Opener Home Town Showdown is a little appetiser for their new album that is coming out in 2022, and as usual they are firing on all cylinders.
1983 sees them step on the gas and turn up the heat a little, a pounding tune with a great vocal melody that I’ve now got stuck in my head. As with previous records, there are some neat guitar touches here and there that really lift the KITT sound.
For the final song, something of a departure. KITT have handed one of their older songs (Beyond The Dane) over to none other than Agent Jay of Slackers fame, and he has done what only top-notch musical engineers can do – he’s completely dismantled ad reassembled the song under the guise of Beyond The Dub. Yep, a dub version of KITT and believe me, it works so well.
As with previous Rare Vitamin releases, this will come out on various obscure formats and in very limited quantities, so don’t snooze if you want in on the action … Tom Chapman
