Words of Concrete – Negative Vibes (BDHW)

I can’t remember the last time that I encountered a band with a more appropriate, and fitting, name than Words of Concrete. Each syllable and every word on Negative Vibes is spewed forth and spat out with such venom and vitriol that it feels like you’re being hit between the eyes with a concrete block. And it’s pretty much the same musically, as Words of Concrete pound, pound and pound you some more with their savage, relentless and remorseless H8000 influenced, beat-down heavy metalcore. Listening to Words of Concrete is like stepping into the ring with Mike Tyson after you’ve unleashed a barrage of unflattering jokes about his mother. It’s exhilarating and exciting, makes your heart beat a little quicker and adrenaline pump a little faster, but ultimately you know that you’re going to be beaten to within an inch of your life. As some wise old soul once said, “Come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough”.  Are you? Are you hard enough to take a musical kicking from Words of Concrete and keep on ticking? You know what? I think you are… Tim Cundle
