After all these years, wandering the world trying to find himself it’s not a stretch to imagine that James “Logan” Howlett aka Wolverine, may have sought the companionship of a female now and then and may have offspring roaming the world and indeed we have seen them pop up in other books, but another potential candidate makes herself known in Wolverine: The Daughter Of Wolverine. And what better writer to bring this latest chapter of Wolverine’s life to fruition, than the man who’s already killed him off and brought him back to life in his comic book career, Mr Charles Soule.
Taking place in the aftermath of World War II and over several decades, Logan is forced to confront a demon every 10 years, conjured by a sorceress-forced to do so by those damn Nazis. Eventually teaming up with Wolverine to try and undo the force she has brought into the world; she realises the potential power that a combination of her and Wolverine would wield.
The artistic team of Paulo Siqueira, Dio Neves, Oren Junior and Frank D’Armata are left with the unenviable job of bringing each decade of the story to life, which helps to define the lines between time skips, while Soule, who has been heavily involved in bringing us tales from the High Republic era of Star Wars of late, knows a thing or two about developing new characters in an already familiar world and weaves his magic once again. It’s a very entertaining caper, which is wrapped up nicely by the time you hit the last page and serves as yet another interesting arc to Logan’s life story… Chris Andrews
