Recorded live in the studio in 1989, Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows is the Dwarves at their raw, insanely fast, and infectious best, and while the songs on offer on this Record Store Day special can, for the most part, be found on Blood, Guts & Pussy, you’ve never heard them like this before. And chances are, unless you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a copy of this limited (2,500) run picture disc, you never will.
Sure, it’s offensive, quicker than a ‘69 GTO and the whole record is done and dusted in less time than it takes you to find your page of the day on Pornhub, but that’s the point. Sunshine encapsulates and captures the lightning in a bottle, couldn’t give a fuck attitude of the Dwarves, a band who summed up the whole nihilistic live fast, fornicate and fight absolutely every motherfucker philosophy that was bubbling just under the surface of the eighties punk rock scene better than just about anyone else, GG Allin included, did. And hot damn, they were, and still are a hardcore force to be reckoned with. Don’t hesitate, don’t delay, this is the only release you need or want on Record Store Day… Tim Cundle
