The Runaways – Japanese Singles Collection CD (Cherry Red)
Does exactly what it says on the tin… They are all here, b-sides included… and with the first time releases of previous studio albums this is also a fine addition to the collection of The Runaways CDs. Original artworks, lyrics, and liner notes ensure you have all those little details completed – it’s a great package. Featuring as you would expect ‘Cherry Bomb’, ‘Queens Of Noise’, ‘Secrets’, and the ruckus version of ‘Mama Weer All Crazee Now’ this collection is a great way to check out a band who carved a major legacy in music. The Runaways aren’t a technical band, but their dynamic rhythms and guitar driven structure make them noticeably honest, they were a band who weren’t trying to play on their looks, instead focused on creating some solid appealing tunes; a fact compounded by the fourteen songs included here. Call it punk, call it heavy rock, most people are aware of their music. Mark Freebase
