The Good, The Bad and The Zugly – Misanthropical House (Fysisk Format)

“Who Will Save Scandirock?” was the question posed by The Good, The Bad and The Zugly (GBZ from here on for this ham-fisted, fuckwit typist) on their seminal 2015 album, Hadeland Hardcore.   Well it’s them isn’t it?  Fucking right it is!  There’s some damn fine bands all over Scandinavia but there’s few who hit the spot with quite the fucked-up, fuck you aplomb that GBZ do.  Taking the energy of their jaw-dropping live shows and replicating that vibe on record takes some doing but from the minute the needle hits the groove, and H-Bomb blasts out, you know you’re on a winner.  Ivar’s manically hoarse vocals give the record a real “Zeke playing Ass Cobra” kind of intensity. It’s a record that makes it hard to pick out particular highlights as they’re all belters but lead single Vik Bak Meg Satan , I Lied About Being A Hardcore Man and International Asshole hit the spot particularly well.  With Turbonegro heading into seemingly much more commercial territory it looks like GBZ and compatriots The Mansters are gonna have to keep Deathpunk as fucked-up as it was always intended to be. They will succeed, believe me.  Darrel Sutton
