Stranglehold – Hold On 7″ (Contra/ Longshot)

Stranglehold

It’s been a while since we heard from this Aussie outfit who released a single and a 10″ record a couple of years back. Their trademark was straightforward, uptempo streetpunk with gruff as fuck female vocals. Well the recipe hasn’t changed for the title track which is pounded out taking no prisoners. But as the EP unfurls, the longer songs “Legacy” and “Fire” introduce a more introspective side to the Stranglehold sound. Overall this record has touches of The Distillers and Radio Dead Ones in places – it is an excellent return to the fold for Stranglehold and hopefully a promise of a forthcoming long-player.
