Pears – Letters To Memaw

Pears – Letters To Memaw 7\” (Fat Wreck)
You will have had time to play this short sharp EP more than once in the time it takes you to read this review. Clocking in at just over two minutes per side, Pears drop in, blast out two tunes of full on energy and drop out whilst you are still drawing breath. This is pretty much hardcore punk as defined by the rulebook (everyone has got the rulebook right – first press on Dischord of course!), with fast hardcore tempered by mid-paced sections and varied vocals that switches with ease from singing to shouting and back. This really reminds me of the Lifetime single \”Boy\’s No Good\” which was of a similar length and indeed style. Both songs are equally good and a nice way of following up last year\’s debut album.
