Los Huaycos – Savage Monstrosities (Tankcrimes)

This is one of those moments when I wish I was a cunning linguist as I have no idea how to pronounce this Peruvian band’s name, but I’m assuming it’s something along the lines of Los Ju-eh-cose, so that’s what I’m going to go with until I discover, or one of you folks out there in internet land tells me, the correct way to say it. Anyways, moniker aside, I’m rather taken by the beautifully, chaotic, furious racket that these chaps make. Nestling somewhere in the middle of a head-on collision between Los Crudos, The Jesus Lizard and Victims Family, Los Huaycos (or, if you’re as lingually ungifted as I am, Ju-eh-cose) power their way through the eleven eccentric, discordant anthems on Savage Monstrosities in double quick smart time. Los Huaycos don’t hang around, they turn up, turn on and blow you away with the incredible punk noise. Magnifico… Tim Cundle
