La Inquisicion – Guerra Total 2×7\”/ LVX LP (Contra/ HFMN)

\"\"

If you have been missing out on the output of Spanish streetpunks La Inquisicion the vinyl gods are smiling at you right now. Yes, the good folk of Contra/ HFMN have just reissued a couple of smashers – last year\’s \”LVX\” album, and their two debut EPs repackaged as Guerra Total. These lads are veterans who paid their dues in the likes of Secret Army, Ultimo Asalto and Bulldozer BCN and their experience shines through. The song-writing and playing is top quality from start to finish. Beginning with the singles, the sound is bright and bold as La Inquisicion take no prisoners, kicking together a bunch of influences but creating a unique sound thanks in no small part to the vocals being sung in their native tongue.

Although the songs bounce along there is something of a moody undercurrent to their style. That is more prevalent on LVC which has a dark, brooding sound. The vocals are gruff which adds a touch of Leatherface/ Hot Water Music and it\’s a blend that totally works. These dudes recently toured together with Lion\’s Law and Bad Co. Project which is an indication of the high standards that they have already reached so if you are new to La Inquisicion get yourself onboard with this fine release and prepare yourself for total war!
