Flotsam And Jetsam – Flotsam And Jetsam (AFM)

\"Flotsam\"

The Arizona thrash legends are back, and this time they’ve upped the thrash ante and hit harder than a ten megaton bomb.  This self-titled record is their best since the iconic Doomsday for the Deceiver as it’s a record filled with fast, thrashing neck snappers. Having never been short of a good tune, but having never quite matched the intensity of the above said debut, it seems that with a new record deal under their belts, the fire in their beastly bellies has been relit. Seventh Seal kicks things off, setting the standard high with super slick riff-mongery and crystal sharp vocal delivery from Erik ‘AK’ Knutson, whilst Life Is A Mess includes elements of Ugly Noise and fuses it in grandiose style with old school theatricality, technicality and brutality. What more could you ask for? And with Exodus and Death Angel also releasing career defining albums as of late, maybe more of the old school should take heed and follow Flotsam and their ilk’s incredible lead. Mark Freebase
