It’s free digital single time over at Rum Bar Records as Live It Up is offered by Duck & Cover in preparation for their Rob Them Blind EP due this August. Is it punk rock? Is it garage rock? Is it hard rock? Hey, it’s all rock ‘n’ roll if your name’s Duck & Cover!

After a swirl of feedback, Live It Up kicks with a chord sequence straight from the yet to be published Nick Royale book entitled How to Write a Killer Swedish Garage Rock Riff. Okay, I may have made that last bit up, but Duck & Cover’s licks are a sweet Hellacopters homage. Couple the guitar work with a catchy as hell chorus with poppy leanings, it makes for summer singalong stuff. Christ, you could even imagine Robin Zander belting the hell out of it.

Whistles have been suitably wetted and the rock ‘n’ roll foundations laid by Wayne from Auf Wiedersehen Pet in his brothel creepers. Right, bring on that 7” EP. If Live It Up is anything to go by then it’s sure to be mental as anything. Ginge Knievil
