Dropdead – Dropdead (Armageddon Label)

I may be getting a little long in the tooth and I may not be able to keep up with the kids like I used to, but there are still a couple of punk rock certainties that I can depend on. Firstly, blazingly fast socially conscious Hardcore will never get old and secondly, Dropdead will never release a bad record. They may not come up with the most imaginative titles for their albums, but that doesn’t matter, because it’s what’s locked in the grooves of those records that matters, and Dropdead is awash with raging, Hardcore fury.

Faster than a speeding bullet and more focused than the laser ranging that NASA uses measure the distance between the Earth and the Moon, Dropdead is a frantic, rallying cry for the Hardcore faithful. Imagine Discharge turned up to eleven in the middle of an amphetamine binge after they’ve been on a seventy two hour Youth of Today, Ripcord and Heresy bender, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of where Dropdead are coming from and what they’re all about.  This is what Hardcore should sound like. Raw, fast, pissed off and absolutely glorious…  Tim Cundle
