Destroyer 666 have, with their latest opus, finally found their place in the annals of thrash metal. Speed and a crisp guitar sound give the band an elevated feel which combines beautifully with KK and Ro’s clear vocal disenchantment. There’s still a black metal element and undertones of punk grittiness, but ‘Wildfire’ definitely seems to have a firm foot hold in speed metal territory. With ‘Wildfire’ the band have fine-tuned their sound, thankfully without losing any of their ‘underground’ edge, and the fire in their bellies has become a potent fuel that doesn’t let the pace diminish.
