Enslaved – In Times CD (Nuclear Blast)
Delivering six tracks in just less than fifty-five minutes is going to either please or piss you off. Enslaved create some brutal black Viking metal, severely heavy, speedily paced and laced with visceral screams, but then on the other hand they mix it up by drifting off into melodic mind bending moments. Adding sections of harmonious guitars and delicately creating ambience with cleverly placed keyboards only casts the impression of sincere evil flowing from within the band. The dark tones run freely throughout the entirety of ‘In Times’, for it is an album of demonic feeling. With each track clocking in at over the eight-minute mark this is a creation that cannot be rushed – just sit back and soak up the atmosphere. Mark Freebase
