RazorCut – Rise Again

\"Rise\"

RazorCut – Rise Again LP/ CD (Rebellion)
After a bunch of EPs over the past few years, Melbourne boot boys and girls RazorCut treat us to their debut album. I was pretty impressed with their 2013 mini album \”Gone Are Those Days\” but on this record they have come on leaps and bounds, definitely stepping out of the shadows of their brother band Marching Orders. The songs have attitude and power, and the fact that three of the songs have the word \”fight\” in the title tells me that this lot mean business. The style is a powerful mix of aggression and melody and that balance isn\’t always easy to pull off but RazorCut do it in style, see \”Who Are You\” or \”Another Rich Man\” for perfect examples of this. You can hear a variety of influences that come together, and a driving bass sound gives the whole album a darker undertone that isn\’t immediately apparent when you listen to the anthemic choruses. With this record, the band has managed to establish their own sound and it\’s one that grows on me with each play. Tom Chapman
