What a brilliant way to start writing for Mass Movement by reviewing the re-release of one of the craziest, funniest, best hardcore LP’s ever! Beer City Records have taken Adrenalin O.D.’s classic release from 1986 Humungousfungusamongus  tweaked it a little and the end result is simply thundering.

This is Adrenalin O.D.’s second album and followed the 1983’s Let’s Barbeque 7’’ and 1984’s The Wacky Hi-Jinks Of Adrenalin O.D. LP. What we have here is classic US hardcore of the highest order, raging, ultra-fast and absolutely frenzied tracks like Bugs, Pope on the Rope  and Fuck the Neighbors sit comfortably next to unbelievably funny songs like Surfin’ Jew, Velvet Elvis and Office Buildings. Even though Adrenalin O.D. sound like they are fire on every single one of the nineteen tracks on Humungousfungusamongus, there’s also a strangely melodic touch in every song, and all of them are damn catchy too, even though sometimes they are SO fast that you can’t tell if they’re singing in English or in a crazy language from another planet, heh!

A mandatory purchase for every eighties hardcore enthusiast and every thrasher that likes FAST thrash, Humungousfungusamongus is one of the shining diamonds of 1980’s. And even though I have two versions of the original LP (both the US and the UK version), I’ll be buying the Beer City Records re-release as my copies were worn out a long time ago! 10/10.
